The "Women in Shipping and Transport Association" (WISTA) in Ghana organized a cocktail party at the GPHA Tower in Tema.
This networking event, which was supported by the Ghana Shippers Authority, was the first event to be hosted at the newly-inaugurated building's roof-top venue and was attended by representatives of the transport and shipping industries, as well as a several of the association's members in support of its objectives of women empowerment.
The president of WISTA Ghana, Mrs Naa Densua-Aryeetey, who is also the Tema branch Manager of the Ghana Shippers Authority (GSA), welcomed the attendance and briefed them on the objectives and achievements in Ghana, since the launching of its Ghana branch in September 2010; the Women's International Shipping & Trading Association (WISTA) is an international organization for women in management positions involved in maritime transportation business and related trades worldwide.
WISTA aims to be a major player in attracting more women to the industry and in supporting women in management positions. With networking, education and mentoring in focus we can enhance members' competence and empower career success.
WISTA is growing and currently counts over 1.500 individual members in 33 National WISTA Associations (NWAs). A full list of its activities for the year 2012 can be accessed here.
